Fanfarlo - I’m A Pilot

A beautiful track. Honestly, I am so distracted by it, I can’t figure out the right words to describe it. Slow rock is the most I got. Downtempo; beautiful; harmonious. The piano reminds me of flying (as the title advertises). Sounds like a neat Mumford & Sons, and a folky Oasis. Not British though. Do you get my groove?

Last Dinosaurs - Honolulu

First off, let me say sorry for making my followers wait. I will be posting frequently now this summer. And secondly, you should really download this song. It is my best rock download in months.

Last Dinosaurs are the classic four-piece indie rock band. Just hearing grabbed my attention. I haven’t had some good indie rock music in a while with all this post-dubstep, rapstep, and minimal dub going around. Now, finding out they’re from Brisbane in Australia really made me interested. I love Aussie/Kiwi bands. A lot of good music is produced down under. From Miami Horror to The Temper Trap, and The Naked and Famous to Architecture in Helsinki, I bet my life Australian music will satisfy my ears.

“Honolulu” is dancey, upbeat, and just beautiful. The vocals of the Two Door Cinema Club singer are similar, here. Recently, when I’m asked for a proper indie rock song, all I can think of is this song.

“I’ll teach you what you need to know!”

Justin Vernon - Hazeltons

The man behind the “Bon Iver” moniker has gone solo. His 2006 release of “Hazeltons” has grown on me just the same way “For Emma, Forever Ago” did. I can just come to the conclusion that it is his voice that is so mesmerizing. The man is a genius to my eyes. He’s deserved popularity as well as featuring in two of Kanye West’s songs on his fifth album. “Woods” was sampled by one of the best musicians on the planet, for god’s sake. (Note: Kanye West is my favorite and most listened-to artist, but this judgement is strictly non-emotional). In fact, I was introduced to the “Blood Bank EP” through the Kanye West sampled song. I still believe West’s version is better, because the original one bores me throughout. The minimalism is still present in Kanye West’s version but is not continuous.

“Hazeltons” is calm and folky but not to the extent of “For Emma, Forever Ago”. If you haven’t heard, “Bon Iver” is a moniker for “Bon hiver”, french for good winter. “For Emma, Forever Ago” was my most listened to album this winter, just ahead of The xx album and Modest Mouse’s debut “This Is A Long Drive…”. If you haven’t heard, Jamie xx and his band provide “melancholic pop” and that was perfect for a harsh winter cold. Modest Mouse’s debut is all about depression, melancholy and anger. It is downbeat all the way with hints of emo rock on the way. I am absolutely positive “Hazeltons” is good for the remainder of this spring, mid-autumn, and the whole winter. This is a keeper. Buy it. Own it. But for now, give it a hear.

Calvin Harris - Merrymaking at My Place (deadmau5 Remix)

While replacing his computer’s video card DIY-style, Joel “deadmau5” Zimmerman found a dead mouse inside. Ever since, the legacy of the dead mouse has followed him to fame. The progressive house DJ is now one of the finest to have graced this earth. The second part of this work of art is the original artist. Calvin Harris is a Scottish electropop artist and DJ. His debut album, I Created Disco, sold more than 100,000 copies. This gained it the status of “gold-selling debut album”.

What deadmau5 does to this Calvin Harris hit is just fantastic and great for any clubbing evening. This is not the first time we see deadmau5 remix Calvin Harris. I’m Not Alone (deadmau5 Remix) is just another example of how great the Scotsman sounds remixed. But for now, have a look at this.

Kanye West vs The xx - Touch the Sky (Carlos Serreno Mix)

Works great! The xx’s “Intro” has been used for many mash-ups and remixes. This mix is definetely my favorite. Kanye West’s “Touch the Sky” features Lupe Fiasco and is arguably “Late Registration“‘s most famous track. Either that or “Gold Digger ft. Jamie Foxx”. The melancholy of “The xx” is surprisingly attractive so this is a perfect song.

However, around the  0:50, I think Carlos Serreno should’ve shifted Kanye’s verse earlier. That is my only problem with the track. There is no download link. I recorded the streaming audio from the youtube video.
